Motor Control & Automation covers the panels and systems used to start, stop, speed-regulate, protect and remotely coordinate electric motors.

Overview

Motor Control & Automation covers the panels and systems used to start, stop, speed-regulate, protect and remotely coordinate electric motors. This spans Direct-On-Line (DOL) and star-delta starters, electronic soft starters (thyristor/SCR-based, AC53a/AC53b rated per IEC 60947-4-2), Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) panels (per IEC 61800), and Motor Control Centres (MCCs) — multi-feeder LV assemblies built to IEC/IS 61439-1/2 that group combination starters (breaker or fuse, contactor, overload relay) on a common busbar. Automation is layered on via PLC/SCADA/HMI for sequencing, remote monitoring, interlocks and predictive maintenance, with field communication over Modbus/Profibus/Profinet/Ethernet-IP. As a power-electronics and transformer manufacturer, ACE's natural fit here is the drive/soft-starter control panel plus the power-quality components that protect drives and motors — line reactors/chokes, detuned reactors, dV/dt filters and sine-wave filters (cross-sold from ACE's filter/reactor ranges). A buyer chooses a single supplier who can both build the control assembly and supply the matched harmonic/dV-dt mitigation, sized to the actual motor schedule, supply voltage and switchboard fault level.
